Charles
Finney- theologian, author, lawyer, preacher
"When he opened his mouth he was aiming a gun. When he spoke
bombardment began. The effects of his speaking were almost unparalleled in
modern history. Over half a million people were converted through his
ministry...in an age when there were no amplifiers or mass communications,
he spearheaded a revival which literally altered the course of
history." He hated slavery with a passion and became a champion of many
social reform issues of the 18th century. His convictions were
born in the fires of revival and committed to the full authority of the
Bible. It was either revival or riot- reminiscent of the power that followed
the first century apostles in the Book of Acts. Over 80% of his converts
stayed true to Christ without ever backsliding. This was due to stressing
holiness and purity. Leonard Ravenhill
The problem in America is the
Christian Church. It has become so lukewarm and ineffective. Church members
can go get an abortion without a flinch. Their consciences are seared
because they are taught soft, comfortable messages Sunday after Sunday. They
have no conviction of sin. As they enter the death camp to kill their babies
they tell us "God will forgive us."
Twenty- eight nights in a row
Finney never made an altar call. He didn’t preach the love of God. He
didn’t say "you’re a sinner, God loves you." He didn’t
preach grace, he preached Law. He didn’t preach love, he preached
judgment. He didn’t preach heaven, he preached hell. He didn’t say
"you’re a wonderful person" he said "you’re a
rebel". But he got results. 64% of D.L. Moody’s converts backslid.
80% of the converts Finney got stood because he knew how to attack the human
will, not just the emotions. Reverend Finney's message goes on or is at
least represented with more believers bearing the courage, diligence, and
true devotion such as my fellow faithful street warriors. Unfortunately as
proclaimers we are confronted persecuted, exiled, restrained attacked,
not only by the United States government but by the abortion lovers, the
apathetic Christian Church, mothers and fathers and families killing
their children, and the baby killers themselves Sometimes even our own
families try to shame, discourage, defeat us and shut us up. I can go on and
on, but the bottom line is we have the victory, but we have to show up for
the battle. Every time we show up outside these gates, the devil flees.
VICTORY! When God's word goes forth, we win. Unfortunately when we stay in
our warm comfortable beds and let somebody else do it, we lose. As
we close one year and look forward to another, let us look at the victories
of 2004.
We witnessed approximately 10, 685
babies killed, 337 babies saved in 2004,
twelve salvations, four sets of twins saved, and three adoptions!
Be encouraged, and look forward to more saves in 2005~ Angela
