We wrapped up the radio program and headed over the river to the City
of Slaughter in Granite City, Illinois. The harvest was plenty as the parking
lot was almost full, the rescuers were few.
One couple from
Indiana
came back out. They didn’t go through with the abortion and drove off. They
never returned during our watch
We prayed in between, gently calling over to the mothers with offers of
free help and resources.
We met a black American couple from
Missouri
in death-alley. She grabbed him by the arm and began pulling him onto the
walkway. He was interested in what I was saying and tried to accept the
brochure. As they walked up to the door, I pleaded with her to “let
her baby be spared, that God chose her to carry this child. That He had set
before them blessings and curses this day”. I noticed the Cardinal
emblem on her purse, “What if that
baby is the next Albert Pujols? You can’t get that baby back.” She
began weeping and she pulled him back from going inside. “Come
on guys, give me a shot at it…” They came over and she screamed to me
that she, “can’t have another
baby...” They, “already have
one.” The man turned to me and I inquired, “Why
will it kill her?” He explained, “She
got real sick with pre-eclampsia in her last pregnancy. She had a
stillborn.” I told him, “I
understand. I too have lost several babies, including a stillborn, but there
are high risk doctors we can put you in touch with.”
By this time, she was back inside the car. I explained several options
to him and my experience and that there was no situation that the Lord could
not help them with. He then thanked me and took the brochure and resources and
got in the car. We began praying for God to move His arm and intervene on this
child’s innocent behalf. After a while, we looked over and they were gone.
They never returned during our watch, Praise God!
We noticed a few cars with the Jesus fish pins on them while the
occupants were inside killing.

Our early spring-like weather was short-lived as the cold, biting winds of
winter returned. It fit the mood outside this deathcamp as many black-American
mothers couldn’t get in there fast enough to kill their babies.
A young girl and an older woman from
Iowa
came out. The girl was visibly upset and carrying a brown bag, her only
keepsake of her trip to
Granite City
,
Illinois
. This wasn’t Disney World. Her mother began screaming and using
profanities. We said, “Look at your
daughter, she doesn’t feel too good about what she just did.” The
woman then pressed on the gas pedal and darted into the alley attempting to
take everyone out with her anger. She squealed her tires and drove into
oncoming traffic. She regained control of her vehicle and sped away back to
Iowa
.

The sun came out and the cold winds died down as we stood in the gap
and made our rounds outside this deathcamp. The bloody parking lot was
over-flowing into the adjacent hospital lots. This is always good, as we can
engage with the mothers as they sit in their cars or make their trek inside
this abortuary.
We had many conversations this day. The women were taking the
literature. It didn’t take long before God was intervening and sparing these
babies. Mothers began walking back out, some crying and telling us they
couldn’t do it. A mother and daughter from
Illinois
came out and told us they were keeping the baby.
We intercepted a three-some in the alley. Both girls were visibly
pregnant. I told them of the free ultrasound and pointed to the van. One girl
seemed interested; the larger girl was more hesitant. Denise
said, “I have an appointment, I
don’t want to be late.” I told her, “It’s
okay. This clinic is open all day.” I proceeded to show her and her
friend all the free resources we offer and was working on how far along they
were. Denise said she was 11 weeks.
I placed my hand on her protruding tummy. Her baby kicked. I said, “It
feels like you may be a little further along.” I guess-timated over 20
weeks. She put her head down. I then went into controlled panic mode. I
explained the late-term procedure and the pain this little one would feel if
she went through with the abortion.
Just then, the male accomplice took her by the arm and began pulling
her to the door. Her friend stayed with me and said, “She
doesn’t really want to do it.” I said, “Then
please talk with her, give her this Bible. Open up the first page, it will
speak to her.” She promised to get inside and bring her out to me. We
began praying for a stay-of-execution on this baby’s life.
Awhile later, all five came back out. They still had our brochures and
materials and planned on contacting us for follow-up.
Just then, the devil must have been annoyed that he didn’t get this
innocent blood. One of the attackers at the Santa Parade that happened a
little over a year ago, drove into the alley after deliberately driving over
one of our large “Free Help” signs and revved up her
engine. She came straight at me with her
Pontiac
. She nudged my shin with her bumper and laughed. I yelled to call the police.
I then took my small NIV and threw the Word at her to distract her from
driving any further forward. Her demeanor sunk. The look on her face was
priceless when I held my ground. She then looked like a scared rat. She
was trying to back up as fast as she could before the police arrived. She tore
out onto the busy street and took off. We laughed. One man said, “I
bet she had to change her pants when you yelled for the cops. She wasn’t so
brave was she?” We picked up our strewn pamphlets and the Bible. We
ended with prayer.

It was a good day for lifesaving. Mothers and their accomplices began
lining up on the walkway. Such a sight. Many were from the day before and were
having difficulty standing and waiting for the belly of the beast to open
their doors. Krazy Korner was occupied with the contentious characters. We
remained focused and went about our mission outside these gates of hell.
Linda arrived and began sidewalk counseling duties. It was a team
effort. We greeted the deathscorts and the game was on. A youth group from
Vandalia
,
Illinois
joined us in our efforts to dissuade these young teens from going inside to
kill.
They went with Linda several times as she walked over to the cars. It
was encouraging to see the youth in action for the Lord. The rosary group
arrived and began praying. Two seminarians and Fr. Gene joined ranks this
morning. Four seminarianettes from
Eden
Theological “called to lead” straight
to hell stood with their “poor-choice” signs.
We were able to help a young mother with diapers and supplies that
pulled up to the sidewalk. One young couple attempted to go inside. We talked
with them and they turned around and ran back to their car and drove away.
They never returned during our watch.
A lot of the women began crying as they walked inside. I thought, “Women
cry, babies die.”
The pre-meditated surgical removal of a
baby from a mother’s womb is the most un-natural act upon a
woman’s body and very detrimental to her physical and mental health. We in
the medical and ethical community know that abortion is absolutely fatal to
the innocent baby’s body, which is a separate entity.
Back in the Roe v Wade era, what was once thought to be good for women
has turned out to be harmful. It was supposed to be the cure-all for child
abuse and other common ills of society. The aforementioned has increased since
the legalization of abortion. Drugs, alcohol, and co-dependency has increased
in women since abortion-on-demand. The incidence of breast cancer in women has
climbed 40% since 1973. How
has a mother’s right to premeditatedly kill a little person growing inside
her womb benefited society? If anything, it has launched us in the
opposite direction.
Abortion causes conflict. It fragments political
parties, churches, schools, and neighbors. It divides families. Husband
against wife. Mother against daughter. Sister against sister. These conflicts
reflect the discord that also occurs within individuals. After abortion, many
women face a daily internal battle between condemning and defending
themselves. Luke
12:53 “They will be divided, father against son and son against father,
mother against daughter and daughter against mother…”
For years, abortion was construed to be a benign medical procedure
carrying little, if any, potential for lasting adverse effects. However, the
last several years have brought greater understanding that abortion for many
women is an issue with profound physical, psychological, spiritual, and
lifestyle dimensions that are intimately tied to many aspects of their lives.
Jeremiah
31:15 “A voice is heard in Ramah, mourning and great weeping, Rachel weeping
for her children and refusing to be comforted, because her children are no
more.”
Approx.
171 babies killed. 8 babies saved. Approx. 37 pro-lifers cared enough to show
up throughout the week’s massacre. 2192 saves since January 2000 and 23
babies have been adopted through Small Victories!
