Death Toll April 27-May 2, 2009

“Rescuing babies, saving lives, one heart at a time”

Reporting from the war zone, the killing fields of Granite City , Illinois

Once known for their towering steel mills, now known for the late-term baby dumping mill.

Casualty Count: Over 400,000 mother-child relationships in their 35 year reign of terror

Sunday- Annual Walk for Babies    After church services we headed over to our annual spring fundraiser, “Walk for Babies”. There was good attendance and great weather, although a little windy, but PTL no rain! We received a lot of honks of support as we walked carrying pro-life signs.

Monday- Bag n’ Tag approx 122 for medical research, pharmaceutical and cosmetic firms from the past week’s carnage.

Tuesday- midnight abortions approx 25      MO, IL      2 saves    We set up our outreach in off and on showers of rain. It was disheartening to see Christian fish pins on clients’ cars as we arrived. One car with a personalized plated came back out after awhile. “ALAGOD” saved her baby as they confirmed and drove off the lot.

We pleaded to no avail for another covenant baby being led to its slaughter as the Black American mother mocked our efforts. A lot of the abortion-bound mothers came alone to abort their babies. We have been told these types don’t receive pain medications if they drive themselves.

The Stericycle guy pulled into the alley and retrieved several boxes marked “hazardous waste”. Another drug salesman brought Weapons of Mass Destruction inside this deathcamp. Convicted felon Alan Palmer was the hired serial killer for this evening’s massacre of the innocents.

Wednesday- approx 22      MN, KY, MO, IL      1 save    It was a pretty busy killing day as we rolled up to the crime scene in the City of Slaughter . Shortly after our arrival, a family from Missouri including a mom, dad, and young daughter came back out and accepted our brochure. They confirmed they were keeping their baby, thanked us, and drove off the lot.

Thursday- approx 20      IN, KY, MO, IL      1 save     Before we arrived and set up our outreach, a couple from Illinois brought their daughter back out and accepted the literature from Jess. They confirmed they did not go through with the abortion and would be needing help.

After we arrived, we were able to talk with several of the women walking inside. Some we recognized from weeks earlier. They were check-ups.

Later in the morning, we pleaded with a couple from Chesterfield , Missouri who came in their company vehicle. As she walked up to sign out the death warrant on her baby, we noticed her very large protruding abdomen. It hung over the lip of her stretch pants. “Please, your baby is viable. Don’t take him or her in there to be butchered.” They ignored our warnings and pleas of mercy and went inside. Daniel placed a distress call to the company listed on the vehicle. The owner didn’t care. He knew they were there to abort their baby. Sad…

Friday- approx 17      MO, IL      1 save   As we rolled up to the slaughterhouse, we noticed a few clients’ cars from the day before. We were saddened, but not surprised. They were visibly late-term including the PowerTech Electric truck. We did our reconnaissance mission and spoke with several abortion-bound mothers walking inside to kill their babies. Many stopped, listened, and accepted our literature.

A young woman from Kansas came by herself. She sat in her car for a while. She got out and asked if I were a nurse. “Yes.” I then pointed to our resource van and asked her if there was anything we could do to help her as she slowly began to walk towards the abortion mill. I briefly explained our ministry and the years we have been here helping women with other options. She declined our offers, but thanked us for our ministry and walked inside.

A couple from Illinois came out and shouted to Angela that they saved their baby. We met Beth and Victor in the alley. They confirmed she was 6 weeks pregnant, accepted our literature, and began reading the resources we have available. They then asked about the picture of our baby we hold outside this mill. “She’s beautiful,” the father said. I then briefly told them her amazing testimony. Beth had tears in her eyes. “Oh my gosh,” she said. “That is so awesome.” Victor said, “You are a good lady. Thanks for what you do.” They promised to keep in touch, got in their car, and drove off. Praise the Lord!

Saturday- approx 26      TN, IN, MO, IL      3 saves   on-site ultrasounds   As soon as we turned the corner in the City of Slaughter, you could hear John Baliff screaming at the pregnant women, which makes them run even faster inside to kill their babies. Oh no, we have enjoyed the past couple of weeks without his shameful presence. He is part of a small cult. When the schemers and gossips Peggy Dresden and Donna Westenberger spotted us, they patted the screamers on the back and said, “We gotta go,” and took off towards Peggy’s apartment. These deluded followers have told us they are not there to save babies but to scream the Gospel at women.

Later in the morning Bill Gover, from Garden Baptist Church in Overland , Missouri , another troublemaker, joined him screaming. We quickly set up our outreach to the mothers running inside and apologized for the screaming man and let them know he is not a part of our ministry.

A late-term mother from the day before returned and was in distress; she was delivering her baby as she took small steps with assistance trying to get inside before she delivered her baby on the parking lot.

A young girl approached us and asked to see an ultrasound. We apologized for the screaming and she said, “Yes, that is horrible.” She came inside and we were able to scan her protruding tummy where she viewed a picture of an approx 21 week old baby girl auditioning on the screen. She was happy. We went over resources and she promised to follow-up with our staff obstetricians. We watched her get to her car and leave the area.

Rick and Donna S. arrived to help us this day. Praise God!  Donna S. is an asset to our ministry. She is an emboldened and godly woman. She spoke frankly to the mothers going inside.

BAM! God was blessing our efforts. We have to work and pray twice as hard when the troublemakers do their damage outside this mill. An Illinois couple came back out with fingers in their ears due to the screaming, confirmed to us they were 8 weeks pregnant, and keeping their baby. Praise God! They drove off the lot.

A SV supporter, Stan, once again tried persuading John and Gover to, “Talk to the women instead of screaming.” Both troublemakers ignored the peacemaker’s requests. He rejoined us on the front sidewalk and shook his head. “It’s like talking to a brick wall.” “Yes, every pastor who has tried to correct them says they are ‘incorrigible.’”

Donna brought Brittney over to us. She was upset with being screamed at. We calmed her down and brought her inside the van. To her surprise, she viewed her 20 week old baby girl sucking her thumb and auditioning for her life. She already has an 18 month old boy at home. Donna was impressed with viewing the ultrasound for the first time. She inquired if the girl was in a church and Brittney answered, “Yes,” and gave the name. We went over resources and handed her a gift bag Shirley makes up for the pregnant mothers who save their babies. Donna S. walked Brittney to her car while we disinfected our equipment.

When Donna came back, she shared how the save, Brittney, told her to, “Please thank Miss Angela for helping me and not screaming at me. That screaming only makes us run in there faster.” Donna S. and her husband then walked over to the troublemakers and tried to sow good seed to those who have tried to destroy and tear down the walls that God’s ministry has rebuilt outside this deathcamp.

We prayed with fellow pro-lifers who joined us on the front sidewalk and encouraged them with the work and babies saved in the past 16 years of our daily missionary work in Granite City . Thank you Jesus for those who took the time to stand in the gap and pray for those unjustly sentenced to death. It’s a mission field, right here in our own backyard. You don’t have to travel to Mexico or India to convert one when babies and sometimes their mothers are dying here.

Approx. 110 babies killed. 8 babies saved. 3156 saves since January 2000 and

28 babies have been adopted through Small Victories!

This has been such an exciting week and a sad week, with Mother’s Day this coming weekend at the killing place in Granite City , but we have seen many victories. We saw the defeat of HB 2354 here in Illinois http://www.concernedchristianamericans.com/node/275. We saw babies being saved in the ultrasound van. We did our first interview with a Polish News Service in Poland . God is moving, and He is moving in the hearts of men and women.

God is telling us to press on and persevere. Now, if I can just get through Mother’s Day…poor me, sniff, sniff. Hee, hee. You better believe I’m going to milk this wonderful day for as long as I can. Remember, we mothers don’t get combat pay. We have earned our stripes and have the battle scars to prove it.

OK, enough whining. Just as it says in 2 Corinthians 4:1 “Since we have this ministry we do not lose heart.” May is such a crazy and busy month anyways with graduations, college kids moving back home, the start of summer break, swine flu, etc, etc. We have so much to look forward to : ) And of course babies coming into the world all around us.

Our home has turned into a maternity ward for our feathered friends. I had such a hard time trying to evict them and their nest from our gutters and hanging baskets; what kind of a pro-life example am I?! So, the doves will stay, the starlings will grow feathers and fly away soon, but it’s also a great witnessing opportunity to your children to show them and teach them about creation and the cycle of life.

The beauty of a woman is not in the clothes she wears, the figure that she carries, or the way she combs her hair. The beauty of a woman must be seen from in her eyes, because that is the doorway to her heart, the place where love resides. The beauty of a woman is not in a facial mole, but true beauty in a woman is reflected in her soul. It is the caring that she lovingly gives, the passion that she shows, and the beauty of a woman with passing years only grows!

But remember, behind every great mother is a basket of dirty laundry.

Keep shining! And be encouraged ~Angela

And don’t forget to tell your mother thank you for the gift of life J
